[Fake Death Reunion | Face-Slapping & Pampering | Bright & Charming vs. Dark & Wild]
I.
Mei Yao was the most precious pearl of the Southern Barbarian King. At fifteen, she rescued a Xi slave named Xiao Yu from beneath a blade. The youth was beautiful, yet he possessed a rebellious nature. Every time she ordered him around, he failed to satisfy her. He was arrogant, perfunctory, and disdained his duties. She couldn’t even scold him, for he would talk back with a single phrase: “Miss is free to replace me.”
In a fit of pique, she gave him several lashes. The beating should have relieved her anger, but seeing his reaction only made her feel more stifled. He neither admitted fault nor begged for mercy, and he certainly did not change.
She tormented him in every way she could imagine, until the day enemy forces raided the camp. She cried until her voice went hoarse while clutching his mangled corpse. From then on, she was plagued by nightmares every night, and the clouds of Mount Wu never returned to her dreams.
Two years later, she was held in the capital by the Emperor as a hostage under the guise of selecting a husband.
At a spring banquet, she happened upon the “Asura General” Yan Yu, who had just returned from the Northwest. He was a man of legendary military merit, cold and sharp as a blade. With just one look, she was stunned—that face was unmistakably her “dead” little slave!
With reddened eyes and a trembling voice, she tested him: “Has the General ever been to the Southern Border?”
His thumb brushed against the corner of her eye, gentle yet distant. “Never.”
Later, during the purification ritual of Fuxi Day, she intentionally showed tenderness toward his elder brother.
Shortly after, he lured her into a hot spring. Amidst the swirling steam, he gripped her waist and pressed her into his embrace. His burning chest pressed against her back as he bit down on her shoulder.
“It hurts…” she sobbed, trembling.
“Endure it!” His voice was hoarse and fierce as he bit the tip of her ear, demanding, “Do you know your mistake yet?”
—He bullied her until she cried!
Though he refused to acknowledge their past acquaintance, she knew he was the man she had missed for two years. This time, she had plenty of patience and love to give.
II.
Yan Yu hated three things in this life:
1. Being born noble only to become a pawn in a power struggle;
2. Being an undercover agent in the Southern Border only to be raised as a pet by a young girl;
3. Hearing that, after his fake death, she had sobbed over his “corpse” and refused to marry, making his heart feel as though it had been stung by a poisonous wasp.
Meeting her again at the spring banquet, his possessiveness became uncontrollable.
He waged a campaign of entanglement and pleasure, wanting the once high-and-mighty “Little Barbarian Lord” who used to tease and torment him to cry with reddened eyes and beg him in a soft voice before they could call it “even.”
He hadn’t seen many sunny days or blooming flowers in his life, but he wanted to take her to a prosperous and bustling spring banquet.
**Reading Guide:**
1. A sweet story with no “crematorium” (groveling phase); 1V1, both leads are pure, HE (Happy Ending).
2. Primarily a satisfying, “face-slapping” read; fictional setting, please do not take it too seriously.
3. Growth-type FL: sweet and charming but not weak; acting submissive is merely a strategy for love. “Miserable but strong” ML: wild and fierce but not insane; his compromises are merely for love and playfulness.
4. Anti-theft: 80%.
